Rokhaya Diallo and her new book, *Pari(s) d'amies*

Rokhaya Diallo is a columnist and essayist. She worked for eight years in the children’s television industry before becoming a panelist on Canal+’s “La Matinale” in 2009. She then became a columnist for i>télé, a panelist on RTL, and the host of the cultural show “Fresh Cultures” on Le Mouv’. It wasn’t until 2015 that she released her first comic book project.
What her book is about: A group of friends make a bet that they’ll succeed in life. The first graphic novel by Rokhaya Diallo, a committed feminist who actively fights against racism.
Five Parisian women in their thirties, from diverse cultural backgrounds, juggle their romantic and family lives. Despite their differences, they are the best of friends. Above all, they are determined to keep up with the times, in step with society, without denying their cultural roots...
"Actually, I worked for years in the animation industry, and I’ve been a fan of comics (especially manga) for as long as I can remember. I met Sophie Chédru back when I was working with Clément Oubrerie and Joann Sfar, and she asked me to write something socially conscious about racism for Delcourt. In the end, I decided to pitch her a comedy about thirty-something women in Paris—I finally wanted a story that depicted the lives of people like me."
