Should you clean your skin thoroughly? Yes, both in the morning AND at night
Beautiful, healthy skin is clean and clear skin.
Cleansing is therefore an essential step in your face and neck skincare routine, both in the morning and at night. It prepares the skin for the subsequent skincare products by making it more receptive.
In the morning, cleansing will remove the impurities that have built up on your skin overnight (sebum, sweat, dead skin cells, and residue from skincare products), which prevent your skin from breathing. In fact, cell renewal is most active at night, so it’s essential to thoroughly cleanse your skin upon waking before applying your daytime skincare products.
In the evening, it's also important to thoroughly cleanse your skin to remove all traces of makeup, as well as pollution, sebum, and other impurities.
Toxins that build up on the skin's surface throughout the day prevent cells from functioning normally. The skin becomes dull, and minor problems—such as pimples, blackheads, redness, etc.—can occur.
To rid the skin of these impurities and prepare it optimally for subsequent skincare, it is therefore particularly important to cleanse it thoroughly.
Those who prefer products that rinse off with water should use micellar water in the evening to remove makeup and then a soap-free foaming cleanser (soap tends to dry out the skin) to complete the cleansing process. In the morning, choose either micellar water or a foaming cleanser, depending on your preference.
After cleansing, gently pat your face and neck dry with a clean towel. Avoid rubbing.
Remember, cleansing doesn't mean stripping your skin! Choose gentle cleansers that are suited to your skin's sensitivity. And above all, don't use body wash—it's far too drying for your face.
So even if you're in a hurry in the morning or tired at night, never skip cleansing. Your skin will thank you!
