Taking Care of Your Skin, Even in Winter
The days are shorter, it’s cold, and yes, it’s winter... But that’s no reason to neglect your skin. Quite the contrary—because, unfortunately for some of us, our skin will become dull and flaky…
Goodbye to this summer’s beautiful golden glow! A timely post, right after Belle Ebène’s Beauty Party!
Here are a few tips to help your skin stay supple and beautiful all winter long:
1. Drink water
Staying hydrated in the summer is a given, but since it’s colder, drinking water regularly isn’t always a top priority—but it should be. We tend to be more dehydrated in the winter, so it’s important to drink more water. It’s a very simple tip, but it’s beneficial for maintaining healthy skin.
2. Protect your face from the elements
During the winter, we wrap ourselves in warm, protective clothing, and we should do the same for our skin. Use a richer moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated—it’s like an extra layer of protection, just like a warm sweater.
3. Think about your lips
Don't neglect your lips, which tend to get dry during the winter. Always carry lip balm with you and apply it regularly. Avoid products that contain mineral oils, which can clog your pores.
4. Don't forget the sunscreen
Just because you're cold doesn't mean the sun's rays are on vacation. We can't stress this enough: sunscreen is essential—in summer and winter alike. Don't forget to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before leaving the house so your skin is protected.
5. Take care of your body, too
The skin is the largest organ in our body, so you need to moisturize your entire body—not just up to your shoulders. The same goes for exfoliation. Whatever you do for your face, you should do for your body as well.
6. Exfoliate regularly
Your skin looks duller in the winter. This is due to a buildup of dead skin cells. To give your dry, flaky skin a boost, exfoliate regularly to restore its softness and radiance.
